Is your color palette haunting your brand?

Sometimes the problem isn’t your logo. It’s the temperature.

Your colors might be giving off the wrong vibe.

Color can change how people feel about a brand almost instantly. And just like the temperature outside, colors can feel cool or warm.

Cool colors like Blue, Green, and Purple. They tend to feel calm, trustworthy, professional, and dependable. That’s why you’ll often see them in industries like healthcare, technology, and finance.

Basically, cool colors say: “Don’t worry. We’ve got this.”

Then there are the warm colors. Warm colors include Red, Orange, and Yellow. They tend to feel energetic, exciting, friendly, and attention-grabbing. They can create urgency, encourage action, and make a brand feel more welcoming. You’ll see them often in retail, food and beverage, entertainment, and brands that want to make a big impression.

Warm colors say: “Hey! Look over here!”
So which one should your brand use? Cool or warm?

There’s no universal answer. The right choice depends on what you want your brand to communicate, who you're trying to reach, and how you want people to feel when they interact with you.

Because choosing your brand colors isn't about picking your favorite color. It’s about choosing the right feeling. Your favorite color might be purple. That doesn't automatically mean your brand needs to look like it was designed by a haunted house.

The takeaway

Cool colors can create calm and trust. Warm colors can bring energy and attention. But the best color palette supports your brand, not just what you happen to like. So before you let your colors haunt your brand, make sure they're telling the right story.
